What better way to spend a sunny day than to stroll around the petal-filled neighborhood. You would think that once the first flowers bloom, the rest would do so too. But just like people, plants bloom at different rates.

One of the most coveted Dutch events in spring is Keukenhof, the annual flower show in Lisse. I’ve heard that the best way to tour the place is not to actually go into the exhibition space, but to simply cycle around the tulip fields in the surrounding areas. There are less tourists on the fields so you won’t have to worry about cropping a stranger out of your picture. It’s also worthwhile to check when the tulips are in full bloom before planning your trip.
